Singapore

On the way to Europe we stopped over in Singapore for a night, which turned out to be a great way to break up the trip and rest on the way over. We stayed at the Carlton Hotel, which was quite nice and not too expensive, and just a stone's throw from the famous Raffles Hotel.
On our first night there we went to the Singapore Night Safari which was great! You catch a tram-on-wheels thing around the zoo and check out all animals, of which there was a great variety of animals from the region we hadn't seen before (favorite being the clouded leopard).

The next day we wandered by Raffles which was really nice but they shooed us away from High Tea due to my lack of long pants and we opted out of 'Hi Tea' from the bakery (also in Raffles), despite the obvious novelty factor and potential bragging rights. The Singapore Sling also would have broken our budget after the extravagance of the Night Safari the night before.
We also wandered down to Suntec City to see the fountain (largest in the world, apparently) and ended up going up tower 4 to see the view. After that we just kind of lazed around by the pool at the hotel until our flight to Florence via Frankfurt later that night.
